DataTrak
Overview of the optional DataTrak remote communication feature
DataTrak allows remote communication with the APX Control System via cellular, satellite, or other methods. It is an optional feature that enables data to be requested from the unit and transmitted via the Internet to any destination in the world.
DataTrak supports two communication modes: • One-Way — Providers can request data from the system and transmit it to another location. • Two-Way — Providers can also send commands to the APX Control System to start or stop the unit, change settings, and change how the system operates the unit.
The unit may start automatically at any time even if the switch is in the OFF position. Use proper lockout/tagout procedures before inspection or servicing. All unit inspection and servicing must be performed by properly trained personnel only.
DataTrak is generally factory installed. It can also be field-installed by inserting a DataTrak option USB memory device into the USB interface port and following the on-screen instructions.
To confirm DataTrak is installed, scroll through the Advanced User Unit Data (refer to Section 3.14). DataTrak will be listed under the Installed Options heading if it is installed.
Once DataTrak is installed, the APX Control System must be configured for the communication provider (refer to Section 5.2.3). The Satellite Com Configuration can be set to: • Qualcomm — Select if the provider is Qualcomm and the original Qualcomm TrailerTracs system is being used. • Other — Select if the provider is Qualcomm using the newer TrailerTracs T2 system, or if another communications provider is used.
Carrier Transicold has worked with approved communication providers with recommended installation locations and wiring connections. Instructions for installing provider equipment are supplied by each individual provider, not by Carrier Transicold. Communications electrical harnesses are available from Carrier Transicold Performance Parts Group (PPG).
