Pretrip

Run the automated pretrip inspection on the Vector 8700

Pretrip is a set of tests run by the control system to check unit operation. It is recommended that a Pretrip is run prior to loading the refrigerated compartment. A Pretrip can be started at any box temperature.

Unit State During Pretrip

If Pretrip is started while the unit is in a Start-Stop off cycle, the unit will start during the course of the test. If the unit is running when Pretrip is started, it will shut down for the first three tests, then start again as it proceeds through the remaining tests.

Pretrip Abort Behavior

Pretrip will run until completed unless an alarm occurs that causes it to be aborted. Only alarms that would result in other erroneous alarms or affect future Pretrip tests will abort Pretrip.

Cannot Start Pretrip?

If "CAN NOT START PRETRIP" is displayed in the MessageCenter, check to see if the unit is in PC mode, Defrost mode, or check the alarm list for active shutdown alarms. Clear these conditions before attempting Pretrip again.

Step 1: Access Pretrip

With the START/RUN-OFF switch in the START/RUN position, press the MENU key until PRETRIP is displayed.

Step 2: Start Pretrip

Press the PRETRIP soft key to display the Pretrip Menu screen (15-second timeout). Press the ▲ or ▼ key to select "Start Pretrip" then press the "=" key.

Step 3: Pretrip Status Screen

Pretrip will begin and the Pretrip Status screen will be displayed. The percent completed is shown in the status bar under the test description.

ALARM Light During Pretrip

During Pretrip, the ALARM light will illuminate to indicate there is no temperature control. This is normal.

Viewing Unit Data

At any time during Pretrip, press the UNIT DATA soft key to view the unit data screen. Press the BACK soft key to return to Pretrip.

Step 4: Verify Test 1

During Pretrip Test 1, verify that the buzzer is energized and the amber light on the light bar is illuminated (if equipped). This test lasts five seconds and requires you to determine PASS or FAIL.

Step 5: Wait for Remaining Tests

The remainder of the Pretrip tests will run automatically and take 7 to 15 minutes.

Step 6: Review Results

"PRETRIP PASS", "PRETRIP FAIL IN TEST ##", or "PRETRIP FAILED AND COMPLETE" will be displayed at the end of testing. The "PASS" message displays until a key is pressed. The "FAIL" message displays until alarms are cleared.

Step 7: View Alarms

Press the VIEW ALARMS key to move to the Alarm Screen and review any alarms activated during the test.

View Test Results Anytime

Press the TEST RESULTS soft key at any time during Pretrip to view results of any completed test. Press the ▲ or ▼ key to scroll through the results.

Stop Pretrip Early

To end Pretrip at any time, press the STOP PRETRIP soft key.

The Pretrip checks: • Test 1 — Display test (buzzer and amber light verification) • Test 2 — 12VDC electrical component amperage check • Test 3 — Temperature sensor check • Test 4 — Engine low speed (Engine Operation only) • Test 5 — Engine high speed (Engine Operation only) • Test 6 — Engine low speed return (Engine Operation only) • Test 7 — Electric heater amperage check • Test 8 — Evaporator fan motor check • Test 9 — Condenser fan motors check • Test 10 — Check Suction Modulation Valve (CSMV) • Test 11 — Evaporator Expansion Valve (EVXV) • Test 12 — Economizer Expansion Valve (ECXV) • Test 13 — Liquid Injection Solenoid Valve (LIV)

Active Alarms Cause Failure

Before completing Pretrip, the control system checks alarm status. If certain alarms are active (for example: Low Fuel Warning, Check Engine Oil Level, Check Coolant Temperature), Pretrip will display "FAILED." Check the alarm list and correct all present alarm situations before sending the unit out for a load.

When the Pretrip cycle is completed, the unit returns to normal temperature control operation. Press the EXIT key to dismiss the "PRETRIP PASS" message.
