Data Recorder

Use the built-in data recorder to mark trips and review data

The APX Control System contains a built-in data recorder with 3 megabytes of memory. It reads the same input information as the control system (Functional Parameters, Configurations, and Unit Data) at all times. Recorded data can be downloaded using the TRU-Tech/TRU-View program or a Data Transfer USB memory device.

The data recorder captures four categories of information: • Control System Information — date/time, setpoint, trailer ID, unit serial/model number, controller info, pretrip start/end, operating mode, and functional parameters • Sensor Data — temperature sensors and pressure transducers recorded as snapshots or averaged readings at selected intervals • Event Occurrences — setpoint changes, defrost cycle start/end, START/RUN-OFF switch position, pretrip start/end, unit mode, control mode, door and remote switch activations, and hour meter readings • User Area Data — comments entered by a user or service technician via the TRU-Tech program

The following intervals are available for sensor recording: • 1 Minute • 2 Minutes • 5 Minutes • 10 Minutes • 15 Minutes • 30 Minutes • 1 Hour • 2 Hours • 4 Hours

Recording After Shutdown

A configuration setting allows an additional eight hours of sensor data to be recorded after the START/RUN-OFF switch is placed in the OFF position. The factory setting is to record the additional eight hours so temperatures are captured during unloading, fueling, or other times the unit may be off. Refer to Section 5.2.3.

Hour Meter Recordings

Hour meters are recorded at midnight or the first time of day the START/RUN-OFF switch is toggled from the OFF position. There will be no hour meter readings when the switch is in the OFF position.

Accessing the Data Recorder

Step 1: Open Data Recorder Menu

With the system powered up (START/RUN-OFF switch in the START/RUN position) or in PC mode, press the MENU key until DATA RECORDER is displayed.

Step 2: Enter Data Recorder

Press the DATA RECORDER soft key to display the sub menus. The Data Recorder screen will display with a 15-second timeout.

Step 3: Select a Sub Menu

Press the UP (▲) or DOWN (▼) key to scroll through the available sub menus. With the desired sub-menu highlighted, press the EQUALS (=) key to enter it.

Marking a Trip Start

Trip Start places the present time and date as a stamp in the data recorder memory. This allows easy review of data from the last trip and downloading data from a specific trip. A trip begins at a Trip Start and ends at the next Trip Start.

Step 1: Select Mark Trip Start

From the Data Recorder sub menus, highlight MARK TRIP START and press the EQUALS (=) key.

Step 2: Confirm Trip Start

If acknowledged, "TRIP START ENTERED" will display for five seconds, then the display reverts to the normal screen.

Trip Start Not Accepted?

If the data recorder is not functioning properly, "CANNOT ENTER TRIP START" will flash on the display, then revert to the Data Recorder menu. Contact your service technician if this occurs.

Downloading Data

Data can be downloaded using either: • TRU-Tech/TRU-View program with a PC-USB service cable connected to the USB interface port • Data Transfer USB memory device (refer to Section 5.3.3)
