Functional Parameters

View and change functional parameters in Advanced User mode

Functional Parameters let you configure how the unit operates, including defrost intervals, air control modes, Start-Stop timing, display preferences and more. You must be in Advanced User mode to access these settings.

Default Settings

In the Functions menus, default settings are shown in BOLD text. Any parameter displayed with an asterisk (*) has been locked using the TRU-Tech program and cannot be changed using the display keys.

Accessing Functional Parameters

Step 1: Open Functions Menu

With the unit powered up (START/RUN-OFF switch in START/RUN) or in PC mode, and in Advanced User mode, press the MENU key until FUNCTIONS is displayed.

Step 2: Select a Sub-Menu

Press the FUNCTIONS soft key to display the sub-menus. Press the ▼ key until the desired sub-menu is highlighted, then press the "=" key to enter it. The highlight will move to the present setting.

Step 3: Change the Setting

Press the ▲ or ▼ key to scroll through selections until the desired setting is highlighted. Press the "=" key to save the setting to memory.

Step 4: Set Additional Parameters

Continue the same process to set additional Functional Parameters as required.

Continuous Operation Economy

• NO — When in Continuous Operation, control for maximum temperature protection. • YES — When in Continuous Operation, control for maximum fuel economy.

Low Speed Transition Timers

In 1-minute increments, select the length of time the unit remains in low speed after starting before transitioning to high speed when in Start-Stop Operation.

In 1-minute increments, select the length of time the unit remains in low speed after starting before transitioning to high speed when in Continuous Operation.

Defrost Interval

The defrost timer automatically puts the unit into a defrost cycle at the selected interval if DTT is below 40°F (4.4°C) or SAT is below 45°F (7.2°C). Shorter times are generally used for warm, humid products like produce. Longer times can be used for dry and frozen products.

Timer Increment Condition

The timer only increments time toward the next defrost when the DTT is below 40°F and the unit is running.

Air Control Mode

The evaporator has both a Return Air Sensor and a Supply Air Sensor. Choose one of the following: • RETURN AIR — Unit controls return air (air entering the evaporator) to setpoint. Return air is generally considered a good sampling of actual product temperature. • SUPPLY AIR — Unit controls supply air (air leaving the evaporator) to setpoint when the setpoint is in the perishable range (greater than 10.4°F / -12°C). In the frozen range, the unit controls return air instead. • RETURN AIR 2 — For units equipped with RAT2, the unit controls temperature based on return air at the RAT2 location.

Temperature Units and Display

Select Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C) for temperature display. For North American units, this function may be locked.

Pressure will display in either psig or bar. For North American units, this function may be locked.

Date will display in either US (MM/DD/YYYY) or European (DD/MM/YYYY) format.

Out-of-Range Temperature

The value entered is the number of degrees away from setpoint the temperature may drift before it is considered "Out-Of-Range" and the configured alarm or alarm-and-shutdown action is activated. Refer to alarm 00053 BOX TEMP OUT-OF-RANGE for more information.

Auto Fresh Air Exchange

• CLOSED — AutoFresh Air Exchange assembly will be closed. • OPEN — Assembly will be open if the engine is running and the setpoint is greater than 28.0°F (-2.22°C). • CFM CONTROL — Assembly will cycle open and closed over a 20-minute period. The open/closed duration is based on the Auto Fresh Air Control parameter. CFM Control is only active if the engine is running and the setpoint is greater than 28.0°F.

When CFM Control is selected, set the amount of air to be exchanged during each 20-minute cycle. Range is 5 to 50 CFM in 5 CFM increments.

Supply Air Limit

• OFF — Supply air temperature will be limited to the colder of 32°F (0°C) or setpoint less the Supply Air Limit value. • ON — Supply air temperature will be limited to setpoint less the Supply Air Limit Configuration value. Refer to Section 4.10.1 for information on Perishable Sensitive Product and Supply Air Configuration interaction.

Start-Stop Parameters

Start-Stop time and temperature values can be configured so that: • TOGETHER — The same settings apply to any setpoint (six settings; only the sixth applies to frozen range only). • SEPARATE — Settings differ depending on whether the setpoint is perishable or frozen (eleven settings: five perishable, six frozen).

In 1-minute increments, this determines the minimum run time for perishable/frozen setpoints in Start-Stop Operation.

10 to 90 minutes (in 1-minute increments). This determines the minimum off time for perishable/frozen setpoints in Start-Stop Operation.

0.5 to 18°F (0.28 to 10°C) in 0.5° increments. Following Minimum Off Time, if a compartment temperature drifts this far above or below setpoint in the perishable range, or above setpoint in the frozen range, the unit will restart.

3.6 to 18°F (2 to 10°C) in 0.5° increments. During the Minimum Off Time, if the compartment temperature drifts this far above or below setpoint (perishable) or above setpoint (frozen), the unit will override the Minimum Off Time and restart.

In 1-minute increments. OFF means no maximum off time. When a minute value is selected, this is the longest the unit will remain off during an Auto Start/Stop Off Cycle. When this time expires, the unit restarts and runs for the Minimum Run Time regardless of compartment temperature.

0°F to 1.1°F (0°C to 0.6°C) in 0.1° increments. Applies only to frozen setpoints in Start-Stop Operation. This offset is the number of degrees below setpoint the unit will run before cycling off, allowing for a lower average compartment temperature during off cycles.

Switch to Diesel

This will override the No A/C Power Configuration parameter when set to NO, so that the system will shut down. The unit will switch to diesel when no voltage is detected for five minutes, if configured to do so.

Sleep Mode Timer

Set a time when Sleep mode will wake up, ranging from 1 hour to 8 days from the current time. For complete instructions on entering and setting Sleep mode parameters, refer to Section 3.19.

Switch Override

If all switches are configured as "Switch Not Installed," this parameter will not display. • NO — The system will respond to the switch as configured. • YES — The configured action on switch activation will be overridden to alarm only.

Temporary Override

The purpose of this setting is to temporarily override the Configuration setting in situations where shutdown or speed change is not desired.

Alarm Display and Contrast

• YES — In Driver Mode, the alarm code and alarm description will be displayed. • NO — In Driver Mode, only the alarm code will be displayed.

Adjustable from 0 to 63 in single-digit increments. Higher numbers increase the contrast of the display screen.
