Sleep Mode
Enable and configure Sleep mode for cold-weather idle periods
Sleep mode is used in cold ambients when the unit will be off for an extended period with no product inside the refrigerated compartment. In Sleep mode the unit periodically wakes up and starts the engine to keep the battery charged and the engine warm.
There is NO TEMPERATURE CONTROL in Sleep mode. Never use Sleep mode if the compartment contains perishable or frozen products.
Enable Sleep Mode
With the system powered up (START/RUN-OFF switch in START/RUN) and in Advanced User mode, press the MENU key until FUNCTIONS is displayed.
Press the FUNCTIONS soft key to display the Functional Parameter Screen.
Press the ▼ key until START-STOP SETTINGS is highlighted, then press the "=" key to enter the menu.
Press the ▼ key until SLEEP MODE SETTINGS is highlighted. Press the "=" key.
Press the ▲ or ▼ key until "ON" is highlighted. Press the "=" key to save the setting to memory. The unit is now in Sleep mode.
Additional sub-menu selections for WAKE UP TIME and RUN PRETRIP AT WAKE are now available. Configure these as needed (see below).
Place the START/RUN-OFF switch in the OFF position and then back to the START/RUN position.
Wake Up Time Setting
WAKE UP TIME may be set to ON or OFF (default is OFF). • OFF — The unit remains in Sleep mode until exited manually. • ON — The SET WAKEUP TIME menu becomes available, allowing you to select a date and time for automatic wake up.
With WAKE UP TIME set to ON, press the "=" key to enter the SET WAKEUP TIME menu. Enter the Month (1–12), Day (1–31), Year (2009–2099), Hour (0–23), and Minute (0–59). The wake up time must be at least 1 hour and no more than 8 days from the current time.
The system uses a 24-hour clock. Hours 00 to 11 are AM and hours 12 to 23 are PM.
Pretrip at Wake Setting
RUN PRETRIP TEST AT WAKE may be set to YES or NO (default is NO). • NO — The unit wakes up at the designated time and controls to setpoint. • YES — The unit wakes up, automatically runs Pretrip, then controls to setpoint. "PRETRIP PASS/FAIL" remains in the MessageCenter until manually cleared by pressing any key.
Sleep Mode Behavior
When the unit starts during Sleep mode, it runs for four minutes minimum until engine coolant temperature is above 95°F (35°C), the battery is charged ("OK" displayed in battery unit data), and charging amps are less than the configured setting. Any remaining Start-Stop Minimum Off Time is ignored.
The unit will restart when engine coolant temperature drops below the configured restart temperature value or if battery voltage drops below the configured battery restart value.
• While running in Sleep mode — "SLEEP WARNING: NO TEMP CONTROL" flashes in the MessageCenter. • While cycled off in Sleep mode — "SLEEP MODE, OFF/ON TO WAKE" is displayed. The display backlight turns off after five minutes.
While in Sleep mode you may view Unit Data, Alarm Lists, and view or change Functional Parameters. You may also initiate Manual Defrost and Pretrip. However, Start-Stop/Continuous Run selections and setpoint cannot be changed.
If the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor fails: in ambients above 32°F (0°C) the unit monitors battery voltage and charging amps only. In ambients below 32°F (0°C) the unit runs for 20 minutes minimum, then restarts every 60 minutes maximum off time, while monitoring battery voltage and amperage normally.
