Sleep Mode
Enable and configure Sleep mode for cold-ambient parking
Sleep mode is used in cold ambients when the unit will be off for an extended period with no product inside the compartment. In Sleep mode the unit periodically wakes up and starts the engine to keep the battery charged and the engine warm.
There is NO TEMPERATURE CONTROL in Sleep mode. Never use Sleep mode if the compartment contains perishable or frozen products.
Enabling Sleep Mode
Enter the Advanced User Functional Parameter screen (see the Advanced User page for access steps).
Press the FUNCTIONS soft key to display the Functional Parameter Screen.
Press the ▼ key until START-STOP SETTINGS is highlighted, then press the "=" key to enter the menu.
Press the ▼ key until "SLEEP MODE SETTINGS" is highlighted. Press the "=" key.
Press the ▲ or ▼ key until "ON" is highlighted. Press the "=" key to save the setting. The unit is now in Sleep mode.
If Sleep mode is selected when the unit is not running during a Start-Stop Off Cycle, any remaining Minimum Off Time will be ignored and the engine will start.
Exiting Sleep Mode
Place the START/RUN-OFF switch in the OFF position, then back to the START/RUN position.
Wake Up Time Setting
"WAKE UP TIME" may be set to ON or OFF. The default is OFF. • OFF — The unit remains in Sleep mode until you exit manually. • ON — The "SET WAKEUP TIME" menu becomes available, allowing you to schedule an automatic wake-up date and time.
From the Sleep Mode Settings sub-menu, press the ▼ key until "WAKE UP TIME" is highlighted. Press the ▲ or ▼ key to select ON, then press the "=" key to save.
Press the "=" key on "SET WAKEUP TIME" and enter the wake-up date and time: Month (1–12), Day (1–31), Year (2009–2099), Hour (0–23), Minute (0–59). The wake-up time must be at least 1 hour and no more than 8 days from the current time.
The system uses a 24-hour clock. Hours 00 to 11 are AM and hours 12 to 23 are PM.
Pre-Trip at Wake Setting
"RUN PRETRIP TEST AT WAKE" may be set to YES or NO. The default is NO. • NO — The unit wakes at the designated time and controls to setpoint. • YES — The unit wakes, automatically runs Pre-Trip, then controls to setpoint. "PRETRIP PASS/FAIL" remains in the MessageCenter until manually cleared by pressing any key.
Sleep Mode Behavior
When the engine runs in Sleep mode it operates for a minimum of 4 minutes, until engine coolant temperature is above 95°F (35°C), the battery is charged ("OK" displayed in battery unit data), and charging amps are less than the configured setting.
The unit will restart when engine coolant temperature drops below the configured restart value or battery voltage drops below the configured battery restart value.
• Running — "SLEEP WARNING: NO TEMP CONTROL" flashes in the MessageCenter. • Cycled off — "SLEEP MODE, OFF/ON TO WAKE" displays in the MessageCenter. The display backlight turns off after 5 minutes.
While in Sleep mode you may view Unit Data and Alarm Lists, view and change Functional Parameters, and initiate Manual Defrost or Pre-Trip. Start-Stop/Continuous Run selections and setpoint cannot be changed.
If the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor fails: in ambients above 32°F (0°C) the unit monitors battery voltage and charging amps only. In ambients below 32°F (0°C) the unit runs for a 20-minute minimum, then restarts every 60 minutes while monitoring battery voltage and amperage normally.
