Data Recorder

Access and use the built-in DataLink data recorder

The APX Control System contains a built-in DataLink data recorder with 3 megabytes of memory. It records events as they occur (such as setpoint changes and defrost cycles) and logs sensor data at selected intervals. Recorded data can be downloaded using a Data Transfer USB memory device.

The following intervals are available for sensor recording: • 2 Minutes • 5 Minutes • 10 Minutes • 15 Minutes • 30 Minutes • 1 Hour • 2 Hours • 4 Hours

The data recorder captures four categories of information: • APX Control System Information — date/time, setpoint, unit serial/model number, software revision, functional parameters, system configurations, operating mode, pre-trip start/end, and trailer ID • Sensor Data — temperature sensors and pressure transducers recorded as snapshots or averaged readings at the selected interval • Event Occurrences — setpoint changes, defrost start/end, START/RUN-OFF switch position, pre-trip start/end, unit mode, control mode, door and remote switch activations, and hour meter readings • User Area Data — comments entered via the TRU-Tech program by a user or service technician

Hour Meter Recordings

Hour meters are recorded at midnight or the first time of day the START/RUN-OFF switch is toggled from the OFF position. There will be no hour meter readings when the switch is in the OFF position.

Recording After Shutdown

The unit is factory set to record an additional 8 hours of sensor data after the switch is placed in the OFF position. This captures temperatures during unloading, fueling, or other times the unit is off. This setting can be changed via Configuration (refer to Section 5.2.3).

Accessing the Data Recorder

Step 1: Open Data Recorder Menu

With the system powered up (START/RUN-OFF switch in the START/RUN position), press the MENU key until DATA RECORDER is displayed.

Step 2: Enter the Sub Menus

Press the DATA RECORDER soft key. The Data Recorder screen will display with a 15-second timeout.

Step 3: Select a Sub Menu

Press the ▲ or ▼ key to scroll through the available sub menus. With the desired sub menu highlighted, press the "=" key to enter it.

Mark Trip Start

Trip Start places the present time and date as a stamp in the data recorder memory. This allows easy review of data from the last trip and downloading data from a specific trip. A trip begins at one Trip Start and ends at the next Trip Start.

Step 1: Enter Trip Start

With MARK TRIP START highlighted, press the "=" key. If acknowledged, "TRIP START ENTERED" will display for five seconds, then the display reverts to the normal screen.

Trip Start Not Accepted

If the data recorder is not functioning properly, "CANNOT ENTER TRIP START" will flash and the display will revert to the Data Recorder menu.

Print to Screen

PRINT TO SCREEN displays a graphical representation of the recorded data. Available on software 04.15.00 and prior.

Step 1: Select Print to Screen

With PRINT TO SCREEN highlighted, press the "=" key. If configured, the system will prompt for entry of the data protect PIN code.

Step 2: Browse Recorded Data

Once the graphical display appears, press the ▲ or ▼ keys to move through the recorded data day by day. The left horizontal axis represents 00:00 (midnight) with 24 dividing lines for each hour.

Step 3: Toggle Event Codes

Press the "=" key to toggle event codes on or off.

When event codes are ON, the following acronyms display: • c — Door close • o — Door open • d — Defrost start • e — Defrost end • p — Power up • f — Power down • r — Real time clock range • t — Trip Start

Downloading Data

Data within the DataLink data recorder can be downloaded using a Data Transfer USB memory device (refer to Section 5.3.1).
