Sleep Mode

Enable Sleep mode to keep the battery and engine warm

Sleep mode is used in cold ambients when the unit will be off for an extended period with no product inside the refrigerated compartment. In Sleep mode the unit will periodically "wake up" and start the engine to keep the battery charged and the engine warm.

No Temperature Control!

There is NO TEMPERATURE CONTROL in Sleep mode. Never use Sleep mode if the compartment contains perishable or frozen products.

Entering Sleep Mode

Step 1: Open Functional Parameters

Enter the Advanced User Functional Parameter screen as described in the Advanced User section.

Step 2: Display Functional Parameters

Press the FUNCTIONS soft key to display the Functional Parameter Screen.

Step 3: Open Start-Stop Settings

Press the ▼ key until the START-STOP SETTINGS sub-menu is highlighted, then press the "=" key to enter the menu.

Step 4: Select Sleep Mode Settings

Press the ▼ key until "SLEEP MODE SETTINGS" is highlighted. Press the "=" key.

Step 5: Turn Sleep Mode On

Press the ▲ or ▼ key until "ON" is highlighted. Press the "=" key to save the setting to memory. The unit is now in Sleep mode.

Step 6: Configure Additional Settings

Additional sub-menu selections for "WAKE UP TIME" and "RUN PRETRIP AT WAKE" are now available. Use the ▲ or ▼ keys to select a value and press "=" to save each setting.

Wake Up Time Setting

"WAKE UP TIME" may be set to ON or OFF (default is OFF). • OFF — The unit remains in Sleep mode until you exit manually. • ON — The "SET WAKEUP TIME" menu becomes available. Press "=" to enter the date and time for the unit to automatically wake up.

Wake Up Time Range

The wake up time must be at least one hour and no more than eight days from the time the clock is set. You can enter Month (1–12), Day (1–31), Year (2009–2099), Hour (0–23), and Minute (0–59).

24-Hour Clock

The system uses a 24-hour clock. Hours 00 to 11 are AM and hours 12 to 23 are PM.

Run Pretrip at Wake Setting

"RUN PRETRIP TEST AT WAKE" may be set to YES or NO (default is NO). • NO — The unit wakes up at the designated time and controls to setpoint. • YES — The unit wakes up, automatically runs Pre-Trip, then controls to setpoint. "PRETRIP PASS/FAIL" remains in the MessageCenter until manually cleared by pressing any key.

Exiting Sleep Mode

Step 1: Cycle the Switch

Place the START/RUN-OFF switch in the OFF position, then back to the START/RUN position.

Sleep Mode Behavior

If Sleep mode is selected when the unit is not running during a Start-Stop Off Cycle, any remaining Minimum Off Time is ignored and the engine will start. It runs for four minutes minimum, until engine coolant temperature is above 95°F (35°C), the battery is charged ("OK" displayed in battery unit data reading), and charging amps are less than the configured setting.

The unit will restart when engine coolant temperature drops below the configured restart temperature value or if battery voltage drops below the configured battery restart value.

• "SLEEP WARNING: NO TEMP CONTROL" — Flashes in the MessageCenter while the unit is running in Sleep mode. • "SLEEP MODE, OFF/ON TO WAKE" — Displays in the MessageCenter while the unit is cycled off in Sleep mode. The display backlight turns off after five minutes.

Available Functions in Sleep Mode

While in Sleep mode you may view Unit Data and Alarm Lists, and view or change Functional Parameters. You may also initiate Manual Defrost and Pre-Trip. However, Start-Stop/Continuous Run selections and setpoint cannot be changed.

Coolant Sensor Failure Behavior

If the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor fails: in ambients above 32°F (0°C) the unit monitors battery voltage and charging amps only. In ambients below 32°F (0°C) the unit runs for 20 minutes minimum, then restarts every 60 minutes maximum off time, while monitoring battery voltage and amperage normally.
