Battery Voltage too Low
electrical
Description
Battery voltage at the main microprocessor is less than 10VDC, and the unit shuts down; if starting, it alarms only and will not crank the engine if voltage stays low.
Activation Conditions
Battery voltage at the main microprocessor is less than 10VDC (except when the engine starter is engaged)
Unit Behavior
Required Shutdown If activated while starting, Alarm Condition only and do not crank the engine if battery voltage is still low.
Reset Conditions
Battery voltage between 11 and 14VDC OR Alarm Reset
Corrective Actions
1. Check Battery Cable Connections a. Inspect battery cable ends and posts. Must be clean and tight. b. Test voltage at battery with unit off. Must be above 11 VDC. c. Test voltage at battery with unit running. Must be above reading with unit off. NOTE Voltage with unit running should always be higher than voltage with unit off due to battery charging. 2. Inspect Connections at starter 3. Inspect Connections at B+ and Ground Bus 4. Check Connections to Climate Control Module a. Check connections at CCM J6-1 and J6-2. Verify that connections are not damaged or corroded. b. Check voltage reading at CCM J6-1 and J6-2 Must be above 11 VDC. c. Check Unit Data voltage reading. Must be within 0.5 VDC of reading obtained at CCM J6-1 and J6-2.
