Engine Failed to Stop
engine
Description
After unit shutdown or cycling off, the engine still turns more than 500 RPM for 20 seconds or the oil pressure switch stays closed longer than 20 seconds; engine operation shuts down the engine and unit and alarms, and electric operation does not activate.
Activation Conditions
When in Engine Operation, engine is turning more than 500 RPM for 20 seconds after unit shutdown or cycled off or Oil Pressure switch is closed longer than 20 seconds after unit shutdown or cycle off.
Unit Behavior
Engine Operation: Engine and unit shutdown and alarm. Electric Operation: This alarm will not activate in Electric Operation.
Reset Conditions
Alarm may be manually reset via keypad or by turning the unit off, then back on again.
Corrective Actions
1. Check To Ensure Engine Is Running - Verify that engine is still running. Engine should not be running. 2. Check Start/Run-Off Switch and Circuit a. Check SROS. It must be in the OFF position. b. Check two way communication equipment. It must not be wired so unit can start with SROS in the OFF position. Correct wiring as needed. c. Check voltage to 1-3MSM-35: 0 VDC at 1-3MSM-35 (including SP-31) and PM-22. 3. Check for Alarm 00130 Check Engine RPM Sensor 4. Check ENOPS - Check ENCU-15 to ENCU-18. It should be an open circuit when engine is not running 5. Check Engine Control Unit (ECU) a. Check voltage from fuse F4 through PM-15 and SP-24 to ENCU-22. Verify correct fuse (see Figure 2.5). Must have minimum 11 VDC with the battery connected and SROS in the OFF position. b. Check voltage from PM-32 to SP-34 to ENCU-44. Must have minimum 11 VDC with SROS in START/ RUN. If not, energize the run relay output using Component Test mode (refer to Section 5.2.4) and retest. c. Check for ground at ENCU-19 and PM-28. If ground is not good, check connectors and wiring between terminals for damage, moisture or corrosion. d. Inspect engine speed sensor (ENSSN) and engine speed control unit (ECU) connector pins and terminals. Verify there is no physical damage to components, and no damage or corrosion in connectors.
