Check Engine Oil Pressure

engine

Description

Diesel Engine mode only: low oil pressure for 5 seconds with engine running and not cranking activates the alarm, and the unit shuts down; Shore Power is alarm only.

Activation Conditions

Not for Shore Power mode. If the system is in Diesel Engine mode AND if Alarm 41 (Engine Stalled) is NOT active and the oil pressure switch = pressure low (open) for five seconds and engine running and not cranking the engine. Add oil pressure requirements

Unit Behavior

If the system is in Diesel Engine mode and the alarm is active, REQUIRED SHUTDOWN If the system is in Shore Power mode and the alarm is active, Alarm Condition Only

Reset Conditions

If the system is in Diesel Engine mode AND Alarm 31 Auto Start Fail) is not active AND alarm minimum off time (15 minutes) OR If the system is in Diesel Engine mode AND engine is running AND oil pressure switch = pressure okay (close) for 10 seconds OR Alarm reset OR Cycle power

Corrective Actions

1. Check Engine Oil Level - Check engine oil dipstick. Add engine oil as needed to fill. 2. Check Engine Oil Pressure Switch (ENOPS) Power and Wiring a. Inspect switch, connector pins and terminals. Verify that there is no physical damage to the switch. Check the connections for damage and corrosion. a. Ground pressure switch โ€“ Connect an insulated jumper wire to the engine oil pressure switch screw and the other end to the ground bus. If the engine cranks, runs, and A00011 is no longer active, the wiring and module are OK. Go to step 3. a. Check for continuity from the ENOPS to APU J2-10. If good continuity is not present, check connectors and wiring between terminals for damage, moisture, or corrosion. 3. Check ENOPS Switch - Remove switch, connect to an external pressure source and test. Contacts close on a pressure rise at 7.0 psig. Contacts open on a pressure fall at 12 psig (0.82 bar). 4. Check Engine Oil Pressure - Connect mechanical oil gauge. Oil pressure must be greater than 21 psig. If oil pressure is low refer to engine workshop manual 5. Replace APU module.
